DISTINGUISHED SERVICE

The Distinguished Service Decorations were established on 15 January 1991. Members of the Australian Defence Force and certain other persons may received these decorations. 

These awards seem to be unique to Australia as no similar specific decorations can be found amongst the other English speaking nations. 


DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS

- the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) - awarded for distinguished command and leadership in action.

- the Distinguished Service Medal (DSM) - awarded for distinguished leadership in action.

COMMENDATION FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE

- the Commendation for Distinguished Service - awarded for distinguished performance of duties in warlike operations.
